Britney Spears denies ‘humiliating the body’ of Christina Aguilera – Up News Info
Britney Spears has clarified a controversial comment she made about Christina Aguilera and her dancers.
On Monday, the Toxic hitmaker took to Instagram to share a quote attributed to the late comedian Rodney Dangerfield that read, “I found out there was only one way to look skinny: dating fat people.”
In the caption, Britney wrote, “I mean, if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers, I would have looked extremely small.”
After fans accused the pop superstar of shaming Christina and her team, she returned to the platform on Tuesday to explain what she meant.
“I was in no way criticizing Christina’s beautiful body, it is what it is!!!” insisted the forties. “I flew to see her show once and the main thing I noticed was the difference in our people on stage!!! In no way did I even mention Christina, check out my post!! I was inspired by her show and she is a beautiful power woman…Thank you @xtina for inspiring me!!! To be honest I’m not trying to criticize anyone.”
Britney went on to insist that her post was actually a “projection of the insecurities” she has following her music career and her 13-year conservatorship. The agreement was finally terminated last November.
“I would never intentionally shame someone because I know how it feels…I struggle with it because of how I feel about myself, not because I hate how someone looks. …I feel like my family knew I was insecure and people were deliberately trying to fuel that insecurity by not giving me a choice of who was on stage with me. May you all be understanding with me as I discover this new life I am living!!!” added the singer.
Christina has yet to comment on the drama, though she reportedly ditched Britney on Instagram as a result.
