The Carlsbad Music Festival is back with its 17th Annual Celebration of Adventurous Music by the Beach, Friday through Sunday August 27-29, 2021. The festival schedule has been announced and can be accessed on the festival website here.
New artists added to the 2021 Carlsbad Music Festival
Trumpeter and composer, Steph Richards, of Steph Richards Power Vibe, who has gradually established herself as an engaging experimenter on the jazz and creative music scenes.
Festival founder, composer and violinist Matt McBane returns with new music for his instrumental group that straddles minimalist chamber music and instrumental post-rock.
The San Diego-based jazz artists of Charlie Arbeláez Afro-Cuban Sextet perform music inspired by blues and Latin rhythms.
Local Jason Diaz is a jazz guitarist / arranger and pop singer / songwriter.
The Get Down Boys are a staple of the Southern California bluegrass scene.
Son of San Diego plays music from the southern region of the state of Veracruz in Mexico known as Son Jarocho.
Nathan & Jessie, based in Temecula, play a mix of jazzy folk and blues.
Highlights of previously announced artists include:
Arooj Aftab performs his wonderful new album “Vulture Prince” with a star group consisting of Shahzad Ismaily and Gyan Riley.
The return of The Mattson 2, which since their last performance at the Festival has released a series of impressive records to critical acclaim and international audiences.
The Calder Quartet, which has been closely associated with the Festival since its inception, and which has continued to elevate its playing to exquisite new heights, is also back.
The Festival looks forward to welcoming Systems Officer, Zach Smith’s band – Smith is known for their work with Pinback and Three Mile Pilot – who have released a series of terrific singles over the past year.
Your safety remains a priority
All festival venues are open air for COVID-19 safety and located in the village of Carlsbad, with the festival center on the lawn of St. Michael’s by-the-Sea with a beer garden, food trucks , a craft market and a children’s play area.
New for 2021
All concerts will be paid at prices accessible to all. Three-day general admission passes range from $ 49 to $ 59 in advance and $ 69 at the festival. Three-day VIP tickets range from $ 209 to $ 259, with a parking option. Day passes are now on sale for $ 18 and will be $ 25 at the door, and day passes for children ages 6 to 12 are half the price of the passes. -pass for adults, and children 5 and under are free.
