Drake’s son Adonis will see his father receive Artist of the Decade award
Drake’s family will be the center of attention when he receives the Artist of the Decade award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
Production sources tell TMZ that Drake’s mother Sandra Graham, who rarely makes a public appearance, will be in attendance as her son accepts the honor on Sunday’s show.
Plus, Drake’s son Adonis will watch his father win the prestigious award at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It would mark the first public appearance of the 3-year-old, who has remained out of public view.
Drake will be honored for his many chart accomplishments, including nine No.1 albums on the Billboard 200, the better part of any artist’s decade. Previous Artist of the Decade recipients have included Mariah Carey and Eminem.
“Today was one of those days that doesn’t feel real,” Drake wrote after announcing he would receive the award. “Waking up with the artist of the decade then having dinner with my idol @ ronaldisley…”
In addition to being named Artist of the Decade, Drake is nominated in seven categories on Sunday’s show, including Top Artist. In 2019, he broke the record for most Billboard Music Awards (27) after winning 12 awards in one night.
Meanwhile, anticipation builds for Drake’s new album. Boy in love certified. He recently watched a new song called “Fair Trade”.
