IVE Becomes Only Girl Group In K-pop History With Most Music Show Wins Soompi
Day in and day out, Starship Entertainment’s rookie girl group IVE makes fans wonder if the “big three” K-pop corporations really hold more power as K-pop goes global. In the early days of K-pop, the industry was led by SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment, but with the global success of BTS and the rise of other K-pop companies, there’s really no no difference in terms of which labels an artist is from.
IVE is Starship Entertainment’s rookie group, home to bands like Monsta X, Cosmic Girls, Cravity and many more, but not really a big name. But IVE is determined to change the status of the label as the group has experienced shocking growth since its debut. IVE released their debut single ‘ELEVEN’ (Eleven) on December 1, and the song was an overnight hit. The song has now, months after its original release, earned yet another music show win for IVE, making it her 13th win for the single.

IVE scores 13th win for “Eleven”
With their latest music show victory “Eleven,” IVE not only won 13 music shows in total, but they also scored a hat-trick in all three major music shows in South Korea. Music show wins are a way for K-pop artists to be rewarded for new songs they release very often. Although the awards shows are always there to serve the purpose of recognizing deserving talent, they are celebrated once a year where only the limited bag of top performers wins. Thus, weekly music shows are a way to reward deserving artists each week.
IVE earned their first-ever music show win on December 8, just seven days after their debut, making them the fastest fourth-generation K-pop girl group to do so. Not only that, but IVE also beat SM Entertainment’s monster rookies who have been dominating the K-pop genre since last year by breaking their 61-day record to earn their first win for their debut song “Black Mamba.”
IVE wins its third “triple crown”
Along with that IVE has the fastest record for music show wins after their debut, the six-girl group also broke the record of many other artists in history by becoming the only girl group in K-pop after years. groups like Seo Taiji and the Boys and Wanna Un for having the most music show wins for their debut single.
As of now, IVE has a total of 13 music show wins, with the last one taking place on February 18 on KBS 2TV’s music show “Music Bank.” IVE now has a total of 3 trophies from ‘Music Bank’, 4 trophies from ‘Music Core‘, 3 trophies from ‘Inkigayo’ as well as 2 trophies from ‘Show Champion’ and 1 from ‘The Show’. Following the win, which was announced without a broadcast due to the 2022 Winter Olympics, the members of IVE released an official label statement thanking the fans.
In their statement, IVE said, “It’s an honor to be able to put on such a strong performance even during this break (Beijing Olympics). We would like to thank the family and staff of the company who always work hard alongside us. We promise to work hard and come back with a good image so that the hard work of the staff and the support of Dive (IVE fans) can shine.
