Jorja Smith visualizes the importance of feeling ‘at home’ in new video
Last month, Jorja Smith filed his being back EP, which included eight songs and a single assist from Shaybo. She is now back to share the official “Home” video. As Jorja plays the role of the nanny, the video shows a woman slowly realizing that the life she is currently living is not what fulfills her. In the song, Jorja sings about the realities that can strike someone when they realize their house is unlike them:
One day I said I would be rich and I said I would have a family / Would I be really happy with my husband and his family? Oh / What’s worse than watching my neighbors pretend they’re happy, mm-mm / Do I ever look at myself and say I’m sorry, mm
Listen to me, listen to me now, I’ll be home / I’ve already called you twice now, please pick up the phone / Listen to me, listen to me now, I’ll be home / I won’t don’t know, I don’t know why, but I came home
It’s been three years since Jorja Smith blessed us with his debut LP Lost found, a 12-track project that was critically acclaimed and propelled the rising singer to the forefront of soul and R&B today. As well as being on charts around the world, the album also helped Smith win the award for Best British Female Artist at the Brit Awards 2019, as well as a Grammy for Best New Artist in the same year. In addition to Lost found, Smith has also released free tracks like “Be Honest” with Burna Boy and “Come Over” with Popcaan, and has contributed songs by Maverick Sabra, Enny and Sonder by Brent Faiyaz.
