Taraka shares new “Welcome To Paradise Lost” music video
Taraka has released a music video for the title track for his upcoming album, which is due out tomorrow.
Written in the wake of Prince Rama’s separation, during a period of intense isolation with only a 7-foot Sonoran constrictor serpent for company, “Welcome To Paradise Lost” is an orgiastic celebration of boredom and disillusionment.
The album is the first release on Taraka’s label, Rage Peace. She launched the label during the pandemic, realizing the need to create alternative systems so that underground musicians could make a living from their music without relying on touring.
“The model of investing so much time, money and labor in a record and then selling each as a series product for $ 25 a piece is outdated. It doesn’t work,” she said. in a press release. “In this age of post-Spotify streaming, $ 25 per record when you’re a niche underground artist won’t even begin to cover the costs of making the album, let alone pay your rent.”
His solution is to release limited edition works of art in conjunction with each of his records in the future – objects intended to enhance the work of musical creation while meeting the need for human intimacy and ritual objects to our post-digital age.
