Why is Dispatch silent on Garam’s bullying but reporting Le Sserafim’s rigged victory?

If Hollywood has TMZ, the South Korean entertainment industry has Dispatch. The Korean media is always aware of every new information, whether it is an event, a publication, a rumor or even a controversy. They also investigate on their own the controversies surrounding the acquisition of Seungri’s text messages that hint that he allowed prostitution to help FreeZia aka Song Jia redeem himself from the controversy over his fake brand. However, they have remained extremely silent on the Le Sserafim Kim Garam bullying controversy.

Fans pointed out that even when there was a systematic attack on K-pop idols in early 2021 as trolls circulated false rumors that they were bullies, Dispatch was diligently reporting it. However, in the case of Kim Garam who is now becoming extremely serious to the point that even local news channels are covering it, Dispatch has not released a single statement. With the Korean media’s ability to make or break a case in several past controversies, many were actually awaiting their stance on Le Sserafim member’s bullying scandal. However, they had no qualms about taking down the girl group for their win on the music show.

Dispatch reports Le Sserafim’s alleged rigged victory

Over the past week, Dispatch has made not one but two reports as they investigate the alleged victory of KBS’ rigged music show “Music Bank.” The two nominees were Korean trotting sensation Lim Young-woong who achieved 1 million sales in over 24 hours for his debut album and Le Sserafim. While Young-woong had the highest score in almost every criteria, he got 0 for broadcast. The Sserafim won only because they had the highest broadcast points. Dispatch dug in and reported that there had been foul play as Lim Young-woong should have gotten airplay points since his song had indeed aired on KBS radio shows.

Fans are at a loss as to why Dispatch is investigating a rigged music show win as Kim Garam’s case becomes extremely serious as it has been taken to court and physical assault charges mount. Since netizens are already wondering if Dispatch and HYBE have some sort of partnership, fans are speculating that they reported the rigged win to shut down exactly those kinds of rumors.

‘Where is shipping’

One fan joked, “Dispatch did that bcs monthly bill from hybe didn’t arrive.” Another wondered if it was only a matter of time before Dispatch reported Garam, “Omfg dispatch turning on hybe??????” One of them asked: “Hybe who is desperate?” Another said: “What happened to HYBE honestly? Dollar signs in their eyes making it hard to see the road ahead?” One fan pointed out: “@dispatch_kst writes at least articles to defend her or you don’t wanna drive daddy hybe crazy if it was an idol from another company they would have interviewed the whole school and shared their thoughts and how it affects GP and all the bullshit Not a single article about garam issues.

@dispatch_kst at least write articles to defend it? Or don’t you wanna drive hybe daddy crazy? Another opined that HYBE was trying to keep Dispatch focused on rigging the win, “I just realized… where is dispatch with the whole garam bullying scandal? hybe really serious about defending one fan commented, “Well HYBE is pulling the strings, have you seen any recent Allkpop news? Soompi? Expedition? When Soojin, Lucas, Seo Ji, Irene even Karina 3 and 4 news every day even a month later but these days only about V Garam does not exist for them so yes even if she is not guilty HYBE is…”
